On 26 January 2018, the 10th Informal Meeting among H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), H.E. Mr. Masataka Fujita, Secretary-General of ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), and H.E. Mr. Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC), was held in Chiang Mai during the 37th ASEAN Tourism Forum. The meeting was presided over by Secretary-General Yang Xiuping.
Secretary-General Yang said that three centres have maintained a good momentum of exchanges and cooperation in 2017. At the 20th Leaders Meeting of ASEAN and China, Japan and Republic of Korea, the leaders of all countries expected the three centres to play a greater role in promoting trade, investment, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges in the region. The three centres should actively implement the consensus of the leaders, further strengthen mutual learning, and jointly promote the development of exchanges and cooperation in the relevant fields to benefit the peoples of the region.
Secretary-General Kim Young-sun fully acknowledged the importance of regular communication and the positive results of the three centres’ regular exchanges. He hoped to continue to strengthen communication and experience sharing among the three centres, so as to play a positive role in promoting practical cooperation under the framework of 10+3, through cooperation projects in related fields.
Secretary-General Masataka Fujita said that the three centres’ regular exchanges and cooperation have strongly promoted mutual learning. AJC would like to continue to strengthen exchanges with ACC and AKC, and make new efforts to promote regional development and prosperity.
At the meeting, the three centres introduced the progress of their respective work and the future plan since the 9th informal meeting. The meeting also discussed the new cooperation projects among the three centres in 2018, and looked forward to the next informal meeting in Beijing.
