On 28 March 2018, officers of Trade and Investment of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) attended South-South Cooperation and Women’s Development Forum in Yenching Academy of Peking University.
The Forum was co-hosted by the Charhar Institute, UN Women and Yenching Academy of Peking University. Mr. Zhang Guobin, Vice Chairman of the Charhar Institute, and Ms. Julia Broussard, UN Women China Country Programme Manager, attended the forum and made opening remarks. Focusing on the development of women in Africa and Asia, scholars from Women and Children Special Committee of China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), Chinese Women’s Research Society, Peking University and Party School of the Central Committee of CPC, discussed how to reduce poverty and improve the living conditions of rural women in developing countries via South-South Cooperation. The forum also discussed China's efforts to help women’s development in terms of education and poverty alleviation and called on more countries to join the efforts to promote gender equality and enhance women's rights and welfare.
