On 26 April 2018, co-hosted by the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) Secretariat and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the Liaison Officials’ Meeting of the 15th CABIS was held in Nanning. Invited officials from Consulates of ASEAN Member States in Nanning, representatives of ASEAN chambers of commerce and trade & investment officials from ASEAN-China Center (ACC) attended the meeting.
Mr. Huang Weijing, Vice Governor of Guangxi, welcomed all participants on behalf of Guangxi government. He said that CABIS had been growing together with the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA)in the past 15 years and had become a brilliant business card of Guangxi and animportant platform for ASEAN-China Economic and trade cooperation. He said thatGuangxi would strengthen cooperation with all parties to jointly upgrade the 15th CABIS by improving quality, efficiency and innovation.
On behalf of the co-host, Mr. Zhangwei, Vice Chairman of CCPIT, mentioned in his remarks that with the deepening of China-ASEAN economic and trade cooperation, CABIS would also be upgraded, focusing on innovation in the key areas including investment, capacity, agriculture, cross-border e-commerce, logistics and service industry, in order to better promote the exchanges and cooperation between business communitiesfrom both China and ASEAN countries.
Mr. Li Changguan, Secretary General of CABIS Secretariat, briefed on the proposed events of the15th CABIS. This year, under the theme of Jointly Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the China-ASEAN Community of Innovation, the 15th CABIS will hold totally 12 important events, the most in its history, including Opening Ceremony, Round-table Dialogue between State Leader of Cambodia and CEOs from China, China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum, China-ASEAN Cross-border E-commerce Cooperation Forum, Belt and Road Economic Forum of Young Entrepreneurs and the 15-Year Achievements Exhibition.
Attendees from ASEAN put forward operable suggestions on the proposed events and expressed their will to actively promote ASEAN government officials, business leaders and entrepreneurs to participate in the 15th CABIS, and to continuously deepen bilateral and multi-lateral economic and trade cooperation via the CABIS mechanism and platform.
