On 14 May 2018, through working closely with Singapore Tourism Board (STB), ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) successfully held Tourism Seminar on China-Ready in Singapore. ACC Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Mr. Chang Chee Pey, Assistant Chief Executive of STB, Mr. Que Xiaohua, Cultural Counsellor of Chinese Embassy in Singapore, and more than 100 officials and representatives from Singapore tourism industries and relevant fields attended.
Focusing on the themes “China Tourism and its Role in Singaporean Market”, “An In-depth Exploration of ASEAN Tourism”, “Modifying Services for Chinese Tourists” and “Interrelation between Chinese History, Culture and Tourism Behavior”, Mr. Zhang Hailin, Mr. Zhou Xiaoguang, Ms. Wang Yajuan and Mr. Zeng Zhiguo, the four professors from Guilin Tourism University respectively delivered thematic lectures. They explained Chinese cultural traditions, customs and development trend of Chinese outbound tourism market, introduced the customs of Chinese outbound tourists, and shared the successful practices of attracting Chinese tourists to relevant countries. The delegates actively engaged in interactions and exchanged views with the professors on deepening cooperation with Chinese tourism enterprises, expanding Chinese tourism markets, enriching the supply of tourism products and improving tourism services quality.
The seminar was one of the 2018 flagship projects of ACC and also one of the activities carried out by ACC to echo the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-China strategic partnership and ASEAN-China Year of Innovation. The seminar aimed to promote the bilateral tourism industry to strengthen communication and exchange, enhance the understanding of each other’s tourism markets, make contribution to deepen bilateral cooperation in tourism and promote people-to-people connectivity.
