On 2 November 2018, the first China-Singapore (Chongqing) Connectivity Initiative Financial Summit was held at Yuelai International Convention Centre in Chongqing. Mr. Liu Guiping, Vice Mayor of Chongqing hosted the opening ceremony. Mr. Tang Liangzhi, Mayor of Chongqing, Mr. Meng Wenlong, Managing Director of Monetary Authority of Singapore, Mr. Huang Hong, Vice Chairman of China Banking Regulatory Commission, Mr. Fang Xinghai, Vice Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission, Mr. Zhang Xin, Deputy Administrator of State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) attended the opening ceremony and delivered keynote speeches. Top leaders from more than 50 Chinese and foreign financial institutions including Chairman of Board of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, President of China Construction Bank, Chairman of Board of People’s Insurance Company (Group) of China Limited, Chairman of Silk Road Fund, President of China Merchants Group, CEO of Singapore Exchange Ltd., leaders from the central banks of 7 ASEAN Member States and leaders from China’s 11 western provinces attended the Summit. Representative from ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) participated in the event.
Following the opening ceremony, the signing ceremony for agreement on important projects was held. About 46 Chinese and Singapore enterprises reached agreements on 36 cooperation projects. In the afternoon, a round-table meeting was held where the participants discussed over the theme of “financial cooperation of China-Singapore Connectivity New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor connecting the Belt and Road”.
