On 14 December 2018, representative of ASEAN-China Centre attended the 2018 Belt and Road International Innovation Forum hosted by the 21st Century Business Herald in Beijing. Themed on “Belt and Road: Openness, Innovation and Opportunity”, the forum was composed of opening ceremony, keynote speeches and round-table dialogues. Nearly 300 peopleincluding government officials, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars, themedia and representatives of international organizations participated in the forum.
Mr. Deng Honghui, Deputy Editor in Chief of Southern Finance Corporation & Chief Editor of 21st Century Business Herald, delivered an opening address. He said that over the past five years, the progress and achievements of the Belt and Road Initiative have exceeded expectations. At present, the risk of global economic uncertainty is increasing. The forum aims to review the achievements of the Belt and RoadInitiative in various fields, and discuss with all industries how to explore the new opportunities for development brought byChina’s further opening-up and new forms and models of business under the principle of wide consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.
Mr. Nicolas Chapuis, Ambassador of the European Union to China, Mr. Chen Sun Hung, Associate Director of Policy and Development Division of the Insurance Authority of Hong Kong, Mr. Zhang Yansheng, Principle Researcher of China Centre for International Economic Exchange, as well as other guests from institutions and enterprises including China-Africa Fund for Industrial Cooperation, Standard Chartered Bank and Ant Financial, discussed how the Belt and Road Initiative would become an effective path to promote a new type of globalization and put forward solutions to the financial and economic hotspot issues of the Belt and Road.
Innovation cases selected from the six areas of the Belt and Road, namely, financial support, new economy, industrial parks, professional services, corporate social responsibility and government promotion platform, were released at the forum.
