On 7 July 2021, the 54th Meeting of ASEAN National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) was held online. The meeting was co-chaired by the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia. Over 100 representatives from the ASEAN NTOs, the ASEAN Secretariat, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC), World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), ASEAN travel associations and other relevant organizations joined the meeting and exchanged views on regional tourism recovery and development.
During the meeting, Ms. Li Yaying, Deputy Director of the Education, Culture and Tourism Division of ACC gave a detailed presentation on the role of ACC, the latest figures of China’s domestic tourism market, ACC’s key achievements and activities in the first half of 2021 and upcoming activities in the second half of the year in the field of tourism. The ASEAN NTOs and other relevant organizations expressed their appreciation for ACC’s continuous efforts in promoting friendly exchanges between ASEAN and China and expressed their hope in strengthening cooperation with ACC in the field of tourism destination development in the future.
The meeting discussed a series of issues on regional tourism programmes, strategies and measures. The participating experts shared their insights and made analysis on the situation of regional tourism market. On 8 July 2021, the representative of ACC attended the 39th Meeting of ASEAN Plus Three NTOs via video link and exchanged views with other participants on the regional tourism scenario.
