On 29 May 2022, the Second RCEP Media & Think Tank Forum was held both online and offline in Haikou, Hainan Province. At the opening ceremony, Mr. Keo Puth Rasmey, former Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, Mr. Wang Bin, Member of the Standing Committee and Director-General of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Vice Governor of the Hainan Provincial Government, Mr. Qu Yingpu, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of China Daily, Mr. Li Jie, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), and Mr. Chi Fulin, President of the China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD) and President of the China Institute for Free Trade Port Studies (CIFTPS), delivered remarks. Mr. Arianto Surojo, Director of the Information and Public Relations Division of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the forum online.
The forum was co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, China Daily, CPIFA and CIRD. More than 300 people joined the meeting, including media and think tank representatives and diplomatic envoys from China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Nepal and Norway. The participants held in-depth discussions on topics such as “Jointly Open a New Chapter in RCEP Economic Cooperation”, “RCEP: New Prospects for a Balanced Regional Recovery and Integrated Development after the Pandemic”, “Opportunities and Prospects for High-level Cooperation between China and ASEAN under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” and “Blue Economy Cooperation and Ocean Sustainability”.
