On 7 April, 2025, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with H.E. Secretary General Kim Jae-shin of the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) and his delegation at the ACC. Persons-in-charge from various divisions of the ACC were present.

Secretary General Shi warmly welcomed Secretary General Kim and his colleagues on their first visit to the ACC. He said that amid the rising global uncertainties and instabilities, regional countries must unite, collaborate, and strive for mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. Sharing close geographical ties and cultural affinities, China, ROK and Japan have broad common interests. The recently convened 11th China-Japan-ROK Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Japan further charted the course for future cooperation among the three countries. Strengthening collaboration among the ASEAN-China, ASEAN-Korea, and ASEAN-Japan Centres is not only a step toward implementing the consensus of ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Leaders, but also contributes to advancing East Asian integration and fostering peace and prosperity in the region. The ACC highly values the Tripartite Meeting mechanism and looks forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation to inject vitality into APT cooperation, as well as contributing to the peace and development of the region.

Secretary General Kim commended the ACC for its remarkable achievements in deepening ASEAN-China relations. He noted that the AKC and ACC, established around the same time with similar structures, share a common mission to promote friendship and cooperation among regional countries. In the face of the complex and changing international landscape, Korea, China, and Japan must stand together to send a unified message of solidarity to the world. The AKC is committed to enhancing communication with its Chinese counterpart, exploring joint initiatives, and sharing best practices to support regional growth and prosperity.

The two sides also exchanged on their respective works and ongoing projects.
